Virginia Snow Storm: McLean Traffic, Closings, Weather

It looks like McLean could get its most significant snow storm of the season Tuesday through Wednesday.

The winter storm warning has been canceled, and the area is under a winter weather advisory.

Predictions Wednesday morning indicated the area would see 6 to 12 inches of heavy, wet snow. 

The storm system moved into the area later than initially forecast Tuesday; snow to started after midnight Wednesday.

Winds of up to 25 miles per hour, with gusts up to 35 miles per hour, are also possible.

Early Wednesday morning, just a handful of people in McLean were without power, but more power outages are expected as the storm continues. Power was restored in McLean before noon, according to Dominion Virginia Power.

Operating Statuses: Schools, Government

Fairfax County Public Schools are closed, as is the federal government (telework and emergency employees should follow their agency's guidelines for inclement weather).

Trash and recycling collection is canceled Wednesday. 

Fairfax County Government offices are open today, Wednesday, March 6, however employees have been granted unscheduled leave. Emergency service personnel should report as scheduled.

The Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed today.

• The Police Department has implemented its accident policy, which means accidents are too numerous. Police will not respond to minor fender benders, only personal injury accidents.
