Your Commute: McLean Residents Sit in Traffic Less than Average

A benefit of living in McLean: A shorter commute to work than the average DC-area worker.

Earlier this week, the Census Bureau reported DC-area commuters have the second-longest commutes in the nation on average, but McLean commuters have it comparatively easy.

While the average DC metro area resident has a commute of 34.5 minutes, the average commute for residents of the 22101 is just 26.8 minutes. Residents of the 22102 ZIP code have an average commute of 27.3 minutes.

Those are much closer to the average commute time for employed persons in the United States (25.5 minutes), according to Census Bureau data.

A separate study released in February by the Texas Transportation Institute found that traffic congestion in the Washington metro area was the worst in the country.
