More Names in Race to Replace Frank Wolf in 10th Congressional District

Highly-competitive open seat has a growing primary roster on both sides of the aisle.

In Virginia's 10th Congressional District, an open seat that will be closely watched in November elections, it's not surprising that there's a growing list of primary candidates.

U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf, a Republican, announced in December that he would not seek another term in office.

On Wednesday, Robert Wasinger, the Republican aide to a Kansas congressman, announced he would throw his hat in the ring.

The Washington Post broke down the rest of the field of announced GOP primary candidates:

  • Del. Barbara Comstock, Fairfax
  • Richard Shickle, chairman of the Frederick County Board of Supervisors
  • Stephen Hollingshead, an official in the administration of President George W. Bush
  • Marc Savitt, head of the National Association of Independent Housing Professionals.
Del. Robert Marshall, a Prince William County Republican, was also mentioned as a potential primary candidate. Earlier this week Comstock released a list of high-ranking party leaders in Prince William County who had endorsed her campaign.

In the Democratic Primary Race:
Primary candidates will file to run from March 10-27. Primary Election Day is June 10.
