Americana singers Dana & Susan Robinson @ Amphora (Herndon)

Singer-songwriters Dana & Susan Robinson perform Tuesday June 3rd at Amphora Diner Deluxe in Herndon as part of The Folk Club of Reston & Herndon Concert Series.

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Dana Robinson settled in northern Vermont in the early 1980's and built a home "off the grid" on 30 acres near the Canadian border. There he founded a popular bakery, café, and folk music venue. Dana launched into full-time touring after the release of his 1994 debut Elemental Lullabye and after receiving a request to perform at Carnegie Hall for Putumayo's Shelter benefit project.

Susan grew up in a musical family in New England, studying piano, oboe, and Scottish fiddle. She was working in the environmental field in California before meeting Dana at a house concert in 2002. Upon moving to North Carolina a short time thereafter, Susan launched into studying with many of the great oldtime musicians in the Asheville area and naturally adopted to the on-the-road lifestyle.

The Robinson's latest release, American Hornpipe continues their exploration into the roots of music traditions.

.... delighted to unreservedly recommend American Hornpipe where even the song titles are inspiring and intriguing - and that's before the music starts. An invigorating mix of reconstituted traditional standards and simpatico originals. - Pete Innes, Blues Matters Magazine
