Ben Tufts and Friends (Craig Tufts Memorial Fundraiser)

A familiar face in the local music scene for over ten years, Ben Tufts has drummed with a who's who of local talent, including Todd Wright, Jon Carroll, Taylor Carson, Justin Trawick, Derek Evry, Bobby Thompson, Laura Tsaggaris and many, many more. This summer's event is the third annual installation of a local music showcase with a purpose--to raise money for a great cause.  Over twenty of the area's best and brightest musicians unite for a varied and eclectic afternoon full of exceptional music.

Ben's father Craig, a man with a contagious passion for learning and teaching about the outdoors, served 33 years as Chief Naturalist with the National Wildlife Federation.  He has inspired countless people to connect with nature. More than any position or title Craig held, it was the breadth of his knowledge about plants and birds, and his contagious curiosity that compelled people to connect with him.  Craig passed away in June of 2009 after a year-long fight with brain cancer.  The Craig Tufts Memorial Fund was established at National Wildlife Federation to carry on Craig’s enthusiasm and passion for nature and wildlife, and to acknowledge and encourage people, young and old, who share an interest in the natural world. Most recently, the Fund has been used to provide scholarships to youngsters attending Family Nature Summits, week-long environmental education and adventure vacations all over the country.  Last summer's event raised over $1500, more than enough to pay for one youngster and his famiiy to spend a week in the Rocky Mountains, learning about nature and wildlife.
