Bringing life saving preventive and curative health care to rural, under-served families in Ethiopia

AAUW Branch Program, 7 p.m., November 13 at the McLean Community Center features Nancy Pendarvis Harris who will talk about challenges and successes bringing life saving preventive and curative health care to rural, under-served families in Ethiopia through the Rural Health Extension Worker Program. Ms. Harris recently spent four months in Ethiopia working on one of John Snow, Inc.’s (a public health NGO) 12 projects there, the Integrated Family Health Program, which in turn assists the Government of Ethiopia implement its nationwide Rural Health Extension Worker Program.  In addition to her current working experiences in Ethiopia, Ms. Harris’ perspectives are enriched by having travelled to more than 120 Countries and living for many years in Nicaragua and Kenya.
