You are invited to our Saturday/Sunday Inauguration Weekend sale of 200+ authentic Cuban movie and political posters (1960s to present) as well as 100+ social cause posters from the U.S., Mexico, Indonesia and other countries. Our address is 3319 O Street N.W. in Georgetown (D.C.). If you're looking for some unusual gifts, this might be the place. We'll be open from 11 am to 5 pm both days. We'll also have a special deal for collectors and gift buyers: For every 5 posters you choose, you'll get the lowest-priced one FREE. And we'll have free shipping tubes for the larger posters if you are traveling or want to mail a gift to a friend or relative.

A word about Havana's handmade silk-screened movie posters: The Cuban Film Institute will design a handmade 20-by-30-inch poster for almost every movie they show on the island, domestic or foreign. So expect to see posters for U.S. films such as Cabaret, Silence of the Lambs, the Godfather, Rebel Without A Cause, Schindler's List and Clockwork Orange. These silk-screens are beautifully designed and copies can also be found in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum and London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and many other museums. We have been collecting for more than 20 years.

We'll also be offering more than 100 Cuban political/propaganda posters, an original Clinton-Gore inauguration poster by Peter Max, a dozen tourism posters from Palestine and Tunisia, propaganda posters from the People's Republic of China and former Soviet Union, vintage Polish movie posters (a few were made for foreign films), two dozen Cultural Revolution-era Mao posters, a few framed Olympic Games posters and lots more.

All of these graphics make fabulous (and affordable) gifts; most are priced from $22 to $129, although we'll have some higher priced, vintage posters for collectors.

Hope to see you in Georgetown on Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 19-20) from 11 am to 5 pm both days.

Thanks Supervisor Foust for soliciting input from citizens. We all have different ideas andRead More priorities. Some of us also appreciate your looking very closely at critical supports for working families who have been hit hard by this economic recession. Foust can go eat a rock for all I care. I support the "Oust Foust" movement. This postRead More was just for him to look good among the tax payers. Do you really think he is going to listen to anyone? No ... he has his own agenda.
