All are invited to the McLean Area Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) meeting Saturday, January 19, 9:30 a.m. at the McLean Community Center. Come and meet three outstanding young women who will be speaking about their experiences and the importance of having received financial assistance at this time in their studies.

Evelyn Garcia Morales, AAUW Career Development Grantee, holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and is a program manager for a nonprofit dedicated to Latina leadership development in Washington, D.C. She is pursuing a master’s degree in organizational development knowledge management. She plans to play an instrumental role in unlocking the human potential of nonprofit organizations’ employees, members, and stakeholders so that they may create long-term, sustainable change.

Eleanore Lambert, AAUW American Fellow specializes in Emily Dickinson’s poetry. Her Catholic University of America Project: Humor and Ambiguity in Poetry: The Case of Emily Dickinson explores how Dickinson’s often-missed humor is the key to a fuller understanding of the poet’s unique philosophical contributions. Lambert enjoys sharing the rich language of American poetry with her students, and she aims to continue to learn about this poetry while teaching at the university level.

Also joining us will be Becky Farmer of Georgetown Graduate School. Farmer
received funding from the McLean Career Development Grant last year and is doing further studying at Georgetown to enhance her career in foreign service.
