Save on your Holiday tree while giving back to the local community!

For the fifth consecutive year, the Food for Trees program is seeking assistance from the local community to help local families in need during the holidays with their holiday food drive, benefitting Share of McLean and the food bank at McLean High School.

Participants are asked to pre-order their Christmas trees at wholesale pricing by Sunday, November 17th through www.foodfortrees.org in exchange for a pledge of $35 in food donations.

Orders will be available for pick-up on Saturday, December 7, 2013 between 10 AM and 5 PM at the Old Firehouse Teen Center in McLean, Virginia. The Teen Center will be open on Saturday for everyone to enjoy hot apple cider, hot chocolate and holiday treats, while kids will be able to decorate sugar cookies, play games and stay warm while the trees are loaded-up to go home for the holiday!  Special appearances will be made by the McLean Youth Orchestra and Santa (atop the McLean Volunteer Fire Department’s Antique Fire Engine – from 12 Noon until 2 PM).  At that time, participants will drop off their food donations to be loaded into the Share truck on-site.

The alternative pick-up date is Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Tree purchases are not required to participate, but we do encourage non-perishable food donations from the community.
