According to his GoFundMe page, created by his friends and coworkers, Williams was one of the first police officers on the scene. While trying to stop Aaron Alexis, who killed 12 people, Williams was shot several times.

He is now recovering from shots in both legs that cracked one and shattered the other, the campaign says.

"Although Scott has made great strides since being shot, the recovery process will take time and there are many unforeseen expenses on the horizon," the campaign says.

The campaign is more than halfway to its goal of $5,000.
