Boy Scouts Give Cooper Middle School Courtyard a Makeover

Work was part of an Eagle Scout project.

The following information was submitted by Lindsay Bovenzi, a journalism teacher at Cooper Middle School in McLean:

Boy Scout Troop 869 came together over the weekend to help makeover the Cooper Middle School courtyard.

This effort was a part of the Eagle Scout project for Tommy Slade. Tommy worked with the Cooper team to develop a plan to bring new life to the courtyard. This included building new picnic tables, sanding and water sealing benches, cleaning out flower beds, mulching trees and beds, and planting bulbs to provide spring flowers.

The new courtyard was put into service on Monday as science classes used it to conduct environmental studies.

This is the third time Cooper has collaborated on Eagle Scout projects. These projects have now provided Cooper with a new patio for an outdoor classroom, benches to view games on the athletic field, and a courtyard that looks beautiful.
