Up to 30 Minute Beltway, Dulles Connector Road Overnight Closings This Week

Here are this week's traffic traumas in and around McLean and Tysons Corner brought to you by the twin construction of the Metro Silver Line and the express toll lanes.

I-495 south from Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to Oak St. overpass - Three lanes closed Monday – Thursday nights for overhead sign and paving work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west at I-495 - Road closed Monday - Thursday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.

Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east at I-495 - Two left lanes closed Monday - Thursday nights for overhang removal. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Overnight Closures of Ramps from I-495 North and Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) South Next Week
 
The ramp from I-495 north on to Route 123 south and the ramp from Route 123 south on to I-495 will be closed overnights next week from from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 20 through Thursday, May 24 because of acoustical panel installation for the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
 
Three Right Lanes of Eastbound Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to Close Overnights Next Week
 
The right three lanes of the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly starting Sunday, May 20 through Thursday, May 24 because of overhead bridge work on the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project.
 
The ramps to eastbound and westbound Route 7 will remain open.
 
Left Lane of Eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) to Close Overnights Next Week
 
The left lane of the eastbound Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH) will be closed overnights next week to allow Dulles Rail Project crews to complete the last stretches of the aerial guideway (flyover bridge) that crosses the highway.
 
Crews will close the left lane of the eastbound DIAAH between mile markers 11.4 and 11.7 (near the exit from Route 7) from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, May 20 through Thursday, May 24.
 
Intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Spring Hill Road to Close Monday through Thursday Nights
 
Rail construction crews will close the intersection of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Spring Hill Road between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., Monday, May 21 through Thursday, May 2.
 
Thru traffic along both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will be allowed, but thru traffic on Spring Hill Road will not be allowed, and will be detoured by using Route 7.

Intersection of Route 7 and Westwood Center Drive/Tyco Road to Close Overnights
 
Acoustical panel installation will cause the closing of the intersection of westbound Route 7 and Westwood Center Drive/Tyco Road nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, May 21 through Thursday, May 24, and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday, May 25.
Southbound Tyco Road thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to eastbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right onto westbound Route 7, U-turn at Jarrett Valley Drive, and continue on eastbound Route 7 to access Westwood Center Drive.
Northbound Westwood Center Drive thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to westbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to eastbound Leesburg Pike, U-turn at Westpark Drive or International Drive, and follow westbound Route 7 to access Tyco Road.
Additionally, the left thru lane of eastbound Route 7 will be closed between Westwood Center Drive and Spring Hill Road during this time.
 
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard Thru Lanes to Close Overnights Monday through Saturday
 
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard thru lanes will be closed between Route 123 and Galleria Drive overnights Monday, May 21 through Saturday, May 26 to allow for utility work in the area.
 
This also will require the closures of the turn lanes on to Tysons Boulevard from northbound and southbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), and northbound and southbound Galleria Drive. Generally, these lane closures will begin to be implemented at 11 p.m., and will be lifted around 5 a.m. the following morning.
 

 Right Turns from Route 123 South onto International Drive to Close This Week
 
Concrete work at a tunnel ventilation building near Route 123 will cause the closure of two right turn lanes from southbound Route 123 on to International Drive from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23.
 
Detour: Continue on Route 123, take the exit on to westbound Route 7, turn right on Westpark Drive, and then right on Greensboro Drive to access International Drive.
 
Capital One Entrance to Close Overnight Sunday, May 26
 
The main entrance of the Capital One campus in McLean will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday, May 26 for utility work. To access the Capital One campus, use the alternate entrance via Scotts Crossing Road.
