Fire Damages Vienna Home

Everything was quiet Tuesday afternoon on a small cul-de-sac in a neighborhood just east of downtown a day after a fire damaged a home at 8527 Betterton Court just off of Electric Ave.

The Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department reported that at approximately 3:43 pm Monday , a neighbor called 911 stating a house was on fire and that no one was home at the time. 

The FRD arrived on scene within four minutes reporting a single family residence with fire showing on the left side.  Firefighters made an aggressive interior and exterior attack bringing the fire under control in approximately five minutes, a spokesman said.

It appears that the majority of the fire was limited to the exterior of the home.  The remainder of time spent on scene encompassed salvage and overhaul operations to ensure the fire had not extended to other parts of the home. 

There were no injuries reported.  The fire is currently under investigation, fire officials said.
