Man Robs Bank Thursday Morning in McLean

Man was last seen on foot, heading west on Dolley Madison Boulevard.

Police swarmed McLean Thursday morning after a man robbed the Cardinal Bank at 1313 Dolley Madison Blvd., according to Fairfax County Police.

Police got a call at 9:38 a.m. Thursday about the robbery. The robber was last seen on foot after taking an undisclosed sum of money, walking away from the bank, westbound on Dolley Madison, according to FCPD spokesman Officer Don Gotthardt.

Witnesses described the man as black, about 5-feet 8-inches tall in his 30s or 40s, Gotthardt said.

There are no reports that the man had any sort of weapon, Gotthardt noted. Police are checking to see whether the robber asked a teller for the money or gave the teller a note, he said. Police were still investigating that angle Thursday.
