McLean Crime: Drunk Driver Assaults Officer and Other Incidents

On July 4 around 4:55 p.m. at Idylwod Road at Barbour Road, police reported they tried to stop a car for a traffic violation. The driver sped away, but eventually slowed and ran from the vehicle on foot, according to police reports. The officer did catch up with the suspect, who resisted arrest. 

The 22-year-old man from Falls Church was charged with assault on a police officer, DWI, speed to elude and driving without a license. The officer had minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The suspect was transported to the hospital and treated for minor injuries, according to police. 

In separate and unrelated incidents reported by the McLean District Station of the Fairfax County Police Department: 

BURGLARY, 6600 block of Old Dominion Drive, 5 a.m. July 6, an employee reported someone entered the business but nothing was stolen. Forced entry was made through a window.

BURGLARY, 1000 block of Gelston Circle, 11:25 a.m. July 6, a resident reported someone entered the home and stole cash. Forced entry was made through rear door.

BURGLARY, 7000 block of Arbor Lane, 7:30 a.m. July 7, a resident reported someone entered the home and stole jewelry and cash. Forced entry was made through a rear door.

BURGLARY, 1000 block of Towlston Road, 9:35 a.m. July 10, a resident reported that someone entered the home and stole jewelry. There were no signs of forced entry.

BURGLARY, 8500 block of Lee Highway, 12:25 a.m. July 10, officers responded for commercial burglary alarm. They allegedly did find a suspect in the business. A man, 25, of Alexandria, was charged with burglary, grand larceny, larceny with intent to sell, and possession of burglarious tools. Forced entry was made through a window.
