McLean High School Student Found Dead in Vienna

Criminal investigation under way.

A rising 11th grader at McLean High School was found dead in Vienna on Friday, about four miles away from her home.

Principal Ellen Reilly told school parents in a letter Monday that Emylee Lonczak died unexpectedly Friday and that she was a "cherished student who will be greatly missed by all who knew her."

Fairfax County police have offered little information on the death, but have said it is under investigation as a criminal matter, according to NBC4.

Police were in the 8200 block of Madrillon Estates Drive, in the Vienna area, on Friday looking for a 16-year-old girl who had been reported as a runaway.

The girl's parents reported her missing two days before, according to NBC4.

Today is McLean High School's inaugural Highlander Kickoff, a day designed to help parents and students get paperwork and other matters ready for the start of school.

The first day of school is Tuesday, Sept. 3.
