This Week: Robbery at Tysons, Attempted Burglary, and Fatal Crash in McLean

Crime incidents reported by Fairfax County police  in the two McLean zip codes 22101 and 22102 for the period ending March 4, 2011.

 

Number Street Crime Details 1961 Chain Bridge Road (Tysons Corner Center) Robbery Three women entered the Bloomingdale’s store, located at 1961 Chain Bridge Road, and stole several purses around 10:15 a.m. on Monday, February 28. When confronted by an employee, they assaulted him and another man and fled into a white Toyota Camry with temporary tags, that was waiting outside. The suspects were described as black, between 18 and 22 years old. The female suspect was about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 100 pounds. The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.   900 Helga Place Attempted Burglary Someone attempted to burglarize a home in the 900 block of Helga Place around 8:35 p.m. on Monday, February 28. An investigation determined the suspect forced open a door but fled when confronted by a resident. The suspect fled into a newer model,   black, four-door Nissan Altima waiting outside; the driver was a woman. The driver was described as black, between 25 and 35 years old, with straight hair and acne on her face. No one was injured. Bellview Road and Old Dominion Drive Fatal Crash A 42-year-old Leesburg woman died on Wednesday, March 2 after the car she was driving ran a stop sign and was hit by an SUV driven by a 50-year-old McLean woman. Sow-Hoong Hon was operating a 1999 Honda Accord northbound on Bellview Road shortly before 1:30 p.m. The Honda failed to stop at the stop sign before entering the eastbound lanes of Old Dominion Drive, where a 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser, struck the driver’s door of the Honda. Both drivers were transported to local hospitals. Hon was pronounced dead a short time later; the driver of the SUV sustained non life-threatening injuries. Neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors in this crash. 900 Countryside Court Larceny Guitar stolen from residence  8500 Leesburg Pike Larceny Cash stolen from business  1800 Wilson Lane Larceny Dog stolen from residence
