An armed man this week attempted a late-night robbery of a gas station on the edge of the Pimmit Hills community but got away empty-handed, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

At about 1:30 a.m. Monday, a man approached the employee of a gas station in the 7500 block of Leesburg Pike and flashed a gun. He ordered the employee to run away, and then he tried to take cash from the register, according to a report out of the McLean District Station.

The man was unable to open the register, so he fled, according to police.

No injuries were reported.

The bandit was described as between 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 5 feet, 10 inches tall and said to weigh between 160 and 180 pounds.

Fairfax County police released the above photos.
