Resident Reports Stolen 'Foo Dog' Statue
McLean resident says a Chinese guardian lion statue—one from a pair—was stolen from her front porch last weekend.
A McLean resident reported that one Chinese guardian lion (often called a "foo dog") was stolen from her front porch Friday, Jan. 25. The white stone statue was part of a pair.
In the announcement the resident posted on Patch Monday, the resident said the statues came from Beijing and have sentimental value to her. The statue had been on her front porch for more than 25 years.
"So, please, bring it back ASAP to 6889 Churchill Road in McLean," the resident wrote.

Chinese guardian lions "were believed to have powerful mythic protective benefits," according to Wikipedia and are frequently used as decorations near entryways of businesses and residences.
