Vasectomy Plea Deal For Dad of at Least Seven

Court ordered procedure would follow 20 months in prison, can't be reversed for five years.

A Virginia man with at least seven children has agreed to a vasectomy as part of his plea deal in a child endangerment case in Shenandoah County, according to The Washington Post.

Under the deal, Jessie Lee Herald, 27, of Edinburg, will receive 20 months in prison and five years probation for child endangerment, hit and run and driving on a suspended license in a crash. Herald's 3-year-old son suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Ilona White defended the vasectomy deal to nvdaily.com.

"It was primarily due to the fact he had seven or eight children, all by different women, and we felt it might be in the commonwealth's interest for that to be part of the plea agreement," she said.

Harold will have the procedure done after he leaves prison and cannot have it reversed while he is on probation.
