Update:Police Issue New Details of McLean Bank Robbery Today

UPDATE 3:55pm. Fairfax police issued this statement this afternoon:  At 11 a.m. a man entered the Wachovia Bank at 1311 Dolley Madison Boulevard, displayed a gun and demanded money. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as black, around 6 feet tall and wore a black
sweatshirt with black pants.

UPDATE 2:20pm. Fairfax County police said they would issue a press release this afternoon with further details of the robbery.

Police investigating the robbery were seen walking up and down Beverly Road in the rear of the bank, apparently trying to determine the robber's escape route.

This is McLean's third bank robbery since November. A Wachovia a block away was robbed the day before Thanksgiving. Then on March 7, Virginia Commerce Bank at the Y-Intersection where Old Chain Bridge and Chain Bridge Road merge, was robbed.

ORIGINAL STORY: A lone robber held up the Wachovia Bank at Old Chain Bridge Road and Dolley Madison Boulevard (Route 123)  about 11:20 this morning, Fairfax County police said.

There were no injuries. Police said it was unknown if the man had a weapon.

He fled. No arrests. Police are on the scene for the investigation.

There are three Wachovia branches in McLean. A second Wachovia a block away was robbed last November.
