Some neighbors have asked about the construction equipment that recently arrived behind the former McDonald's restaurant on Elm Street. It's part of the construction of undergrounding the that now crisscross the intersection of Old Dominion Drive and Chain Bridge Road in the center of downtown.

All the construction that you see downtown from the former Chicken Out to Old Dominion is all connected to the project.

The beginning of the overhead station structure appears to be emerging atop the McLean station along Dolley Madison Boulevard. Dulles Metro Rail announced a major milestone Tuesday: completion of the Silver Line aerial guideway Tuesday.

Now work turns to building the rail bed, electrifying the system and finishing the stations and pedestrian walkways to the stations. Trains are scheduled to begin running from East Falls Church to Reston in Fall of 2013.

Dranesville Supervisor John Foust sends a couple of reminders:

Private trash companies need to be called and asked to haul away the debris —especially debris still left from the June 29 storm.

Local food pantries are now in need because they have been helping residents needing food, water and other supplies in the June 29 storm.

The food pantries are accepting cash and food to build their reserves. The McLean food pantry:
