FCPD Captain, Police Chief Settle Lawsuit
Denise Hopson will receive a promise not to be transferred from her position for 18 months
Fairfax County Police Department Captain Denise Hopson has settled her lawsuit against Chief David Rohrer, the Washington Post reports.
Hopson, the head of FCPD's Major Crimes Division, in October after Rohrer allegedly used anonymous emails about Hopson to defame her on the department's intranet. In the settlement, she will receive $36,097 to cover the cost of her attorney, as well as a promise not to be transferred from her position for 18 months, according to the Post.
Rohrer and Hopson originally clashed over the selection of new detectives for the Major Crimes Division. Rohrer decided to overturn the selection process, which was overseen by Hopson.

Hopson said that Rohrer's explanation of the vacated selections on FCPD's intranet, allegedly based on anonymous emails, hurt her reputation in the department. She originally sued for $1,000 in damages from Rohrer, the identity of the anonymous email writer, and $1,000,000 from her anonymous accuser.
