Hillary Clinton to Hold Fund-Raiser for Terry McAuliffe
Former Secretary of State to hold fund-raiser in September at her home in DC.
The Associated Press reports that Hillary Clinton will hold a fund-raiser for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe Sept. 30. The event would be a high-profile political foray by Clinton, 65, since leaving her job as Secretary of State for the Obama administration.
Former President Bill Clinton, 66, has already personally donated at least $100,000 to McAuliffe's campaign and has appeared at several campaign fund-raisers for McAuliffe.
Democrat McAuliffe, 56, often described as a personal friend of the Clintons, served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the Clinton administration.
McAuliffe served as co-chair of Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign in 2008. Clinton is expected by many to run for president in 2016.
Clinton backers are hoping McAuliffe wins Virginia, which has become a toss-up state in presidential elections, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.
The event is set for Sept. 30 at the Clintons' Massachusetts Avenue Heights home in Washington, D.C., the AP news story says.
