Pres. Obama, Bill Clinton, 600 others Expected at the McAuliffes Today

No street closings associated with presidential visit

Terry and Dorothy McAuliffe are expecting President Barack Obama, their great friend former president Bill Clinton and about 600 others at their large McLean home this afternoon for a marque fundraising event --- two presidents together in a private setting.

This is the first joint fundraiser with both President Obama and President Clinton, according to a note from the Democratic National Committee. Three others are planned during this presidential election year, according to news reports.

The First Lady is not coming.

The price of admission: $1,000-$2,500 (for the preminium section) for the estimated 500 people attending the reception with the two presidents. Eighty supporters paid $20,000 to $25,000* to dine with the presidential duo.

Terry McAuliffe, the host, and his wife are long-time McLean residents. He is a businessman, fundraiser, former chair of the Democratic National Committee,  former campaign manager of Hillary Rodham Clinton's 2008 presidential bid and a likely 2013 Virginia gubernatorial candidate.

The McAuliffe home is a popular site for Democratic fundraisers. The McAuliffes annually host the major fall fundraiser for the Fairfax County Democratic Party.

Details of the presidential soiree:

Traffic: No road closings are planned. There will be rolling road closures as the presidential motorcade comes and goes.

The Secret Service has arranged for a bus service to shuttle guests in from a separate location to the McAuliffe home to minimize vehicle traffic coming into the residence. The house is located on a hill and shares a cul-de-sac with four other homes.

Most guests will arrive from 4:30-5:30pm. The activities should conclude about 8pm.

If the neighbors have any concerns/issues with parking or traffic, they should call the police non-emergency number 703-691-2131 and officers on scene will handle, McLean District Police  Capt. Dan Janickey advised.

The President has a heavy social this weekend. He attended a private fundraiser at a home in upper Northwest Washington Friday night. Saturday night was the annual White House Correspondents dinner, which now has a red carpet.

Proceeds from Sunday’s events will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parties.

*The DNC said the tickets for the dinner cost $20,000. The invitation on Terry McAuliffe's website said $25,000.
