Lewinsville Road Bridge, I-66 Closed Weekend Nights

Two major road closings in McLean.


All lanes of  Lewinsville Road in McLean over I-495 will close starting at 9:30 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday, and again Saturday night through 9 a.m. Sunday.

A detour will be in place, according to a note from The Virginia Department of Transportation: Southbound traffic on Lewinsville Road will be directed to make a left onto Swinks Mill Road, a right onto Old Dominion Drive, a right onto Balls Hill Road and a left back onto Lewinsville Road.

Northbound traffic on Lewinsville Road will be directed to make a right onto Balls Hill Road, a left onto Old Dominion Drive, a left onto Swinks Mill Road and a right back onto Lewinsville Road. 

Should inclement weather cancel this work it will be rescheduled. 

I-66 West At I-495 Closures Planned, Along With One Hour Temporary Stoppage

Three lanes of I-66 west at I-495 will close Friday, from 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday, for removal of an old overhead box girder.

After midnight, the fourth lane will close for up to 30 minutes at a time throughout the night. Motorists should expect a one hour temporary stoppage to occur between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m.

Crews will also close Exit 49, I-495 south to I-66 west and traffic will be directed to continue on I-495 south to Exit 52B, Little River Turnpike (Route 236) east, follow signage to I-495 north to Exit 49A, I-66 west. Should inclement weather cancel this work it will be rescheduled for Saturday, June 30.

This work is part of the 495 Express Lanes Project. The project is on schedule to be completed in late 2012.
