Overnight Adventures in Tysons Area: 30 Minute Beltway Delays, Dulles Access Road Closing

Lots of challenges to overnight Tysons Traffic

TEMPORARY TOTAL CLOSURES of up to 30 minutes on I-495 north and south from Old Dominion Drive to Lee Highway overpass and at Little River Turnpike, on I-495 north at Gallows Road, on I-66 east and west from I-495 to Nutley Street, on Chain Bridge Road north and south at I-495.

-495 south at from Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to Lee Hwy. (Route 29) overpass - Three lanes closed Monday - Friday nights for overhead sign installation.

I-495 north to Exit 45, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west - Ramp closed Monday and Tuesday nights for bridge work.

I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east - Ramp closed Monday - Thursday nights for concrete girder erection. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495 - Road closed Monday and Tuesday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west. Motorists will not be tolled.

Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east at I-495 - Road closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) east. Motorists will not be tolled.

Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south at I-495 - Two lanes closed Monday - Friday nights for overhang and bridge lighting work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.


Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north to I-495 north – Ramp closed Wednesday - Saturday nights for ramp shift. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to make a right onto International Dr. south, left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and follow signs to I-495 north.

Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south to I-495 north - Ramp closed Wednesday - Saturday nights for ramp shift. Traffic will be directed to continue south, make a left onto International Dr. south, left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and follow signs to I-495 north.

I-495 south to Exit 47A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east - Ramps closed Tuesday night for paving. Prior to work zone, traffic will be directed to take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south and follow signs to Leesburg Pike (Route 7).


I-495 north to Exit 47A and B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west and east - Ramps closed Wednesday night for traffic shift. Traffic will be directed to continue north, take Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, make a left onto International Dr. south and follow signs to Leesburg Pike (Route 7).

Exit Ramp from Southbound I-495 to Southbound Route 123 to Close Tuesday through Friday Nights Next Week

Crews will perform overhead concrete work at the I-495/Route 123 interchange next week. The ramp from southbound I-495 to southbound Route 123 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday might, Oct. 4, through Friday night, Oct. 7.
 
Traffic will be detoured to remain on the southbound Beltway, then exit 47A on to westbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7), then right on International Drive to access Route 123.

Station Construction, Utility Work to Cause More Overnight Closures along Route 7 at Spring Hill, Westwood Center/Tyco Road Intersections
 
Construction of the piers around the future Tysons West Station will require overnight closures of part of two intersections along Route 7 between Route 123 and the Dulles Toll Road next week.
These closures will be in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the nights listed below:
 
Tuesday, Oct. 4: Left turn lane of westbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) closed at Spring Hill Road. (Detour: Continue on westbound Route 7, U-turn at Westwood Center Drive/Tyco Road, then right on southbound Spring Hill Road)
 
Tuesday, Oct. 4 and Wednesday, Oct. 5: Two left turn lanes of eastbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will be closed at Spring Hill Road. (Detour: Continue on eastbound Route 7, turn left at Westpark Drive, left on Greensboro Drive to access Spring Hill Road)
 
Wednesday, Oct. 5 and Thursday, Oct. 6:Two left turn lanes of westbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) closed at Westwood Center Drive/Tyco Road. (Detour: Continue on westbound Route 7, U-turn at Jarrett Valley Drive on to eastbound Route 7, right on Westwood Center Drive. Please do not U-turn into the Jarrett Valley neighborhood as a courtesy to the residents.)
 
In addition, crews will continue the installation of a major water main at the Route 7/Spring Hill Road intersection from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday night, Oct. 3. This work was rescheduled from a prior date due to inclement weather.
 
Motorists will be directed to detour using alternate cross streets along Route 7.

Left Lane Closure on Eastbound Dulles Toll Road near Wiehle Avenue Scheduled Oct. 3-7 for Dulles Rail Construction

The left thru lane of the eastbound Dulles Toll Road, between mile markers 5.5 and 6.2 (near Wiehle Avenue), will be closed between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 3, through Friday, Oct. 7, for Dulles Corridor Metrorail project construction work.

Where:  From the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to the ramp from the Toll Road
