Overnight Beltway Closings In Tysons Corner, Up to 30-minute Delays

I-495 north from Exit 47, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) to Exit 46, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123)

Three left lanes closed Wednesday and Thursday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Three left lanes closed Monday- Friday nights for bridge work. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.

Lane Closures of I-495 at Route 123 to Continue
 
Multiple overnight lane and ramp closures on both directions of I-495 at Route 123 are set to continue mid-next week. Brief, 30-minute maximum total road closures may be necessary to move equipment.
 
These closures generally are expected to occur Monday through Fridays through the end of the year. 

Westbound I-66 to Close at Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) Monday and Tuesday Nights
 
 I-66 westbound at the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) will be closed overnight Monday, Aug. 22 and Tuesday, Aug. 23, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., for Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project construction. These closures will affect drivers bound for destinations along I-66 west of Arlington.
 
Thru traffic will be detoured on to the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) westbound, then on to the Capital Beltway (I-495) north, to a U-turn at Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to go south on the beltway. Drivers can then rejoin I-66 west from the beltway.
 
To avoid the closure, drivers bound for destinations inside the Capital Beltway may find alternate routes via other local westbound roads by exiting I-66 prior to the I-66/Dulles Connector Road split. For example, traffic bound for the Falls Church City/Broad Street and Idylwood areas can exit before the detour and use Route 29/Washington Street to connect with Broad Street (Route 7 west).
 
In addition, bus drivers and other maintenance vehicles that need to use the ramp from the West Falls Church Metro Station on to the westbound Dulles Connector Road should be advised that flaggers will be onsite to direct traffic while work is performed over that ramp.
 
Bridge Construction over Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road at Leesburg Pike (Route 7); Multiple Overnight Closures and Detours Required
 
Cranes will continue to construct bridge segments over the Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road intersection with Leesburg Pike (Route 7).
 
Overnight thru traffic along both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) still will be open, but left turns on to Westpark or Gosnell will not be allowed. For safety reasons, thru traffic on Westpark/Gosnell will be prohibited, and will be detoured by using Route 7 as follows:
Southbound Westpark Drive thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to eastbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to westbound Leesburg Pike, then U-turn at either Spring Hill Road or Tyco Road, and continue on eastbound Leesburg Pike toward Gosnell Road.
Northbound Gosnell Road thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to westbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to eastbound Leesburg Pike, pass under Route 123, turn left on International Drive, left on Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), then take the exit ramp to Route 7 to turn right on Westpark Drive.

Weather permitting, these closures will be in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Fridays, for the next four weeks.
 
 
Full Closures of Eastbound Tysons Boulevard Continue Overnights
 
Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project crews plan to close the eastbound lanes of Tysons Boulevard from Galleria Drive to Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road) overnight Monday, Aug. 22 through Friday, Aug. 26, for pier and station work. In addition, the turn lanes from Galleria Drive and Route 123 on to eastbound Tysons Boulevard will be closed. 
 
These closures will be in place from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Westbound Tysons Boulevard traffic will remain open.
 
Thru traffic on eastbound Tysons Boulevard toward Route 123 will be detoured as follows:
Left on Galleria Drive/Westpark Drive
Left on Westbranch Drive
Right on Tysons Boulevard
Left on International Drive to access Route 123
An alternate route for hotels and businesses along Tysons Boulevard would be to turn left on to westbound Tysons Boulevard, then left on International Drive. Note: Southbound Galleria Drive only allows a right-turn on to International Drive and thus does not access Route 123.
 
Flagging Operation at Magarity/Olney Intersection Continues
 
Flaggers will be directing thru traffic at the Magarity Road/Olney Road intersection in Falls Church as crews continue work on that corner lot.
 
This work will reduce thru traffic to one lane on each road from Monday, Aug. 22 to Thursday, Aug. 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and 9:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 26.
 
Private entrances and driveways will be accessible at all times. Signage will be installed warning drivers that the flaggers and one-lane traffic are ahead. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution when traveling through this intersection.
