No closing for the Dulles Access Road tonight. The overnight closing will start Thursday instead.
The eastbound lanes of the Access road will be close overnights from approximately 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. because of construction of the new Silver subway line. This work is expected to occur for three consecutive nights, then intermittently as needed through the end of July.
The closings are necessary because rail construction crews are working on a large concrete structure that will straddle two piers on each side of the eastbound Access road. The exit to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) will remain open.
This is the schedule for the closing:
7 p.m. - The left lane of the westbound highway will close near Route 7.
7:30 p.m. - The right lane of the eastbound highway will close near Route 7.
8 p.m. - All eastbound Airport Access Highway traffic will be diverted on to a single westbound lane. At this time, westbound Airport Access Highway will be two-way.
Closures will be picked up in reverse order, to be completed at 5 a.m. the following mornings.
