Reminder to Neighbors: McLean Library Still Closed

Grand Opening July 9

McLean's Dolley Madison Library is still closed.

We remind the neighbors of the closing because the folks at the Fairfax County library tell us, "Many customers are arriving daily and trying to conduct business. One customer attempted to return her library books to one of the remaining construction workers." The book drop will also remain closed until July.

"Although construction equipment has been moved, the library remains closed while interior work is completed and staff puts all the material back on the shelves," said the note from Mary Mulrenan, the spokesman for the county library system.

She asked McLean Patch to remind neighbors to save them the inconvenience of driving to a closed library.

The temporary library in the Balducci's shopping center closed May 21, the same day as McLean Day. The newly renovated Dolley Madison Library with its striking two-story, all-glass rear wall overlooking McLean Central Park won't open until July 9.

The Dolley Madison Library just off Ingleside Avenue is the third most popular of the county’s 14  community libraries, Mulrenan said. Dolley Madison serves one of the must educated and affluent communities in the U.S.

The library says: Customers who regularly use Dolley Madison Library will need to use another Fairfax County Public Library branch until July 9. Holds can be suspended or changed to a different branch. The book drop at Dolley Madison Library will not be available until July 9. Due dates for Dolley Madison customers will be adjusted to address the closing.

We have 39 days and counting until we get our library back!!
