Sen. Warner Headlines Fundraiser for Delegate Candidate Pam Danner

Danner is running against Barbara Comstock

U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, (D-Va), joined nearly 60 supporters of Virginia delegate candidate Pamela Danner for a fund-raising lunch at a McLean home overlooking the Potomac River.

The lunch on Crest Lane, one of McLean's most expensive addresses was one of Warner's six stops in Fairfax County Tuesday.

Danner is challenging incumbent Del. Barbara Comstock for the 34th House District seat that includes about half of McLean, Great Falls, Wolf Trap and a few precincts in Loudoun County.

A who's who of McLean Democrats joined friends and supporters at the home of real estate developer Al Dwoskin that overlooks the Potomac. Ticket prices ranged from $100-$1,000.

Warner told the gathering: "This district with some of the most intelligent (voters) should not have a representative in Richmond that is lockstep with any political party and the person you sent is supporting Ken Cuccinelli." Cuccinelli, Virginia Attorney General,is a very conservative Republican.

Danner said, "You know me as a neighbor and a community organizer. I have worked with almost every community organization in this community." She is a lawyer who has practised in McLean since 1992.

"This district is really fiscally conservative and socially moderate. . . My opponent has really voted in lockstep with the Republican Party and Ken Cuccinelli.

What: The money. Danner has raised nearly $140,000 since April. She has spent $64,000 and has $75,000 remaining, according to reports compiled by the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project.

Comstock, as the incumbent, has raised nearly $1.1 million since her election in 2009. In 2011, she has raised $245,000 and spent $103,000. But she has $256,000  on hand because of her fundraising in prior years, according to the VPAP reports.

Who: The gathering was Danner's friends, supporters and a gallery of Fairfax Democratic Leaders and McLean neighbors.

-State Sen. Janet Howell, (D-Reston).

- Del. Bob Brink, who now represents about half of McLean in the General Assembly. Del. Mark Sickels, (Franconia), Del. Jim Scott, who formerly represented park of McLean.

-Dranesville school board member Jane Strauss, who was recently elected board chairman.

-Ron Bleecker, chair of the Dranesville District Democratic Comittee.

-Jay Howell, a member of the McLean Community Center Board.

-Dan and Karen Duval, owners of Salona, one of McLean's oldest addresses.Karen Duval is chair of the board of the McLean Project for the Arts.

-Bill Dubose, a certified financial planner and vice-chair of the MPA board.

-Irv and Jan Auerbach. He is the president of the Lewinsville Coalition. She is president elect of McLean Rotary.

Where:  The neighbors on Crest Lane include television broadcaster Sam Donaldson. Fred Malek, a mega-money raiser for the Republican Party. Frank Carlucci, a former U.S. Secretary of Defense, former CEO of Sears Global Trade and former CEO of The Carlyle Group, a very private and very influential private equity company.
