Overnight Lane Closures on the I-495 Capital Beltway Continue Next Week

Silver Line bridge construction over I-495 at the Route 123 intersection continues this week. Multiple lanes in either direction of the beltway may be closed in the overnight hours, though thru traffic will be permitted. Specific lane closures will be announced daily, and should be expected through the end of the year.

I-66 West to Close at Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) Monday through Wednesday Nights

I-66 westbound at the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) near the West Falls Church Metro station will be closed overnight Monday- Wednesday, from 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., for Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project construction. These closures will affect drivers bound for destinations along I-66 west of Arlington.

For safety reasons, traffic cannot be allowed to flow under this construction work. Thru traffic will be detoured on to the Dulles Connector Road westbound, to Route 123 south, to I-495 south. Drivers can then rejoin I-66 from the beltway.

To avoid the closure, drivers bound for destinations inside the Capital Beltway may find alternate routes via other local westbound roads by exiting I-66 prior to the I-66/Dulles Connector Road split. For example, traffic bound for the Falls Church City/Broad Street and Idylwood areas can exit before the detour and use Route 29/Washington Street to connect with Broad Street (Route 7 west).

Overnight Closures at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) and Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road Intersection Resumes for Bridge Construction

The bridge span construction at the Route 7/Westpark Drive-Gosnell Road intersection in Tysons Corner is nearing completion. However, the middle of the intersection will need to be closed between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday , and from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11. Thru traffic along both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will still be allowed.

For safety reasons, thru traffic on Westpark/Gosnell will not be allowed, and will be detoured by using Route 7 as follows:
Southbound Westpark Drive thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to eastbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to westbound Leesburg Pike, then U-turn at either Spring Hill Road or Tyco Road, and continue on eastbound Leesburg Pike towards Gosnell Road.
Northbound Gosnell Road thru traffic and motorists wanting to turn left on to westbound Leesburg Pike will need to turn right on to eastbound Leesburg Pike, pass under Route 123, turn left on International Drive, left on Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), then take the exit ramp to Route 7 to turn right on Westpark Drive.
Eastbound Tysons Boulevard to Close Monday through Wednesday Nights

The eastbound lanes of Tysons Boulevard will be closed between Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) and Galleria Drive Monday through Wednesday nights, Nov. 7-9, for overhead bridge, pier and station work near the future Tysons Central 123 station.

This also will require the closures of the turn lanes on to eastbound Tysons Boulevard from northbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), and northbound and southbound Galleria Drive. Generally, these lane closures will begin to be implemented at 9:30 p.m. each night, and will be lifted between 5 a.m. each following morning.

Flaggers will be on those roads Monday, Nov. 7 - Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Thursday, Nov. 10, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.

The flaggers on Magarity will be stationed under the Dulles Connector Road overpass, while those on Trap Road will be stationed at the bridge over the Dulles Toll Road/Dulles International Airport Access Highway. Please be alert and use extreme caution when using these roads.
