Traffic Alert: Three Northbound Lanes of Capital Beltway in Tysons Corner Closed Tonight

The Virginia Department of Transportation sent along this good news/bad news note:

The Virginia Department of Transportation will restore the fourth lane along I-495 north at I-66 and open a new fifth lane from I-66 east onto I-495 north extending to Exit 47, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) by 8a.m. Saturday, May 5.

Opening these lanes ahead of schedule, the 495 Express Lanes Project will have all lanes in their final alignment delivering improved traffic flow through this area.

To prepare for this work, crews will close three right lanes on I-495 north starting tonight, at 9:30 p.m. until 8 a.m., Saturday, May 5. Motorists should expect the I-495 north to Exit 47, Route 7 east and west to be closed with traffic directed to continue on I-495 north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) south, to I-495 south, back to Exit 47, Route 7 east and west.   

Route 7 east and west exit ramps will also be closed with detours in place. Traffic will be directed to International Drive, to turn right onto Route 123 to I-495 north.
