Temporary Road Shift of Eastbound Leesburg Pike (Route 7) near Dulles Toll Road (Route 267) to Be Implemented Overnight Thursday, March 8; Exit Ramp from Eastbound Access Highway to Westbound Route 7 to Close

Construction of the bridge in the median of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) in Tysons Corner is about to begin the final stretch of this guideway - the flyover between Route 7 and the median of the Dulles International Airport Access Highway (DIAAH). The large yellow and blue truss constructing this guideway first must cross over the lanes of eastbound Route 7.

Road Shift
Crews will implement a temporary shift of the eastbound lanes approximately 30 feet to the right so bridge construction can continue, and avoid working over an active roadway.

This temporary lane shift is expected to be implemented in the overnight hours Thursday, March 8 as follows:
9 p.m. to midnight - Right thru lane closed from Jarrett Valley Drive to the exit ramp from the eastbound DIAAH
Midnight to 5 a.m. - Left thru lane closed in same area
Brief, 15-minute maximum total closures of eastbound Route 7 may be required for the traffic switch.
Ramp Closure and Detour
In addition, the ramp from the eastbound DIAAH to westbound Route 7 will be closed, beginning overnight Thursday, March 8.

Ramp detour: To access westbound Route 7 from the eastbound DIAAH, drivers should use the exit from the eastbound DIAAH to eastbound Route 7 instead, then U-turn at Spring Hill Road on to westbound Route 7.

This shift and ramp closure will be in place for approximately two weeks. Then, the eastbound lanes of Route 7 will shift back to the current configuration, and the ramp will reopen as the truss moves westward. This plan eliminates the need for full overnight closures of eastbound Route 7.

Eastbound Tysons Boulevard to Close Sunday through Friday Nights

The eastbound lanes of Tysons Boulevard will be closed between Chain Bridge Road (Route 123) and Galleria Drive Sunday through Friday nights, March 4-9, for overhead bridge, pier and station work near the future Tysons Central 123 station.

This also will require the closures of the turn lanes on to eastbound Tysons Boulevard from northbound Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), and northbound and southbound Galleria Drive. Generally, these lane closures will begin to be implemented at 9:30 p.m. each night, and will be lifted between 5 a.m. each following morning.

Detours around this closure will be in place. Please use extreme caution, pay attention to signage, and obey police direction if traveling around this intersection.

Galleria Dr. west at Tysons Blvd. - Three left turn lanes closed Sunday - Friday nights for span work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
