Vote in Today's Primary Election

Republican and Democratic Primaries

This is primary day and it's a little tricky.

McLean Republicans get to vote in a primary between two Republicans running for Fairfax County sheriff. The winner of the primary will face the incumbent Democratic sheriff in November.

McLean Democrats get to vote in the primary battle in the 31st state Senate District between Barbara Favola, an Arlington County Board member for 14 years, and attorney Jaime Areizaga-Soto.

Huge question: Which McLean residents live in the 31st District? If you live generally east of Old Dominion Drive you are now in the 31st District.

This district was entirely in Arlington and represented by Sen. Mary Margaret Whipple. Whipple is retiring. Under redistricting required by the 2010 Census, the 31st was extended into McLean, Fairfax County and even includes a few precincts in Loudoun County.
