Rep. Frank Wolf (R-10th), author of the initial resolution to create a House Select Committee on Benghazi, released the following statement after the Republican-led House on Thursday approved H. Res 567 drafted by the House Leadership by a vote of 232-186, nearly down the party line.

“Today’s vote, which has been 18 months in the making, is for the families of the Americans killed and injured in the terrorist attack in Benghazi as well as for the brave men on the ground that night, whose heroic efforts fighting against unbelievable odds saved countless lives. Our nation owes a huge debt of gratitude to those men who risked – and especially the two who ultimately lost – their lives that night.  Without them, the outcome could have been much worse.

“I have long believed that the only way to find out what happened in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, as well as in the days and weeks that followed, is through a bipartisan Select Committee that can hold public hearings, subpoena witnesses and cut across jurisdictional boundaries in Congress.  This is not about politics. This is about and the families of those killed and injured – and the American people – getting the answers they deserve about what happened.  To date, that hasn’t happened.”
