Second Sighting of a Suspicious Man Near Langley High School

Alert from Langley Principal

Langley High School principal Matthew Ragone sent out this notice after school Friday afternoon:

We had another sighting of the suspicious person yesterday, Thursday at around 3 p.m.  He was initially reported to us by a jogger on the path between Langley High School and Mackall Road.  Yesterday a student reported that a man was following her as she walked through Langley Oaks.  She, very smartly, went to a friend's house.  The man is described to be about 30 years-old, African-American with a heavy build.  In addition to walking around, he was also seen in a royal blue, four door car.

The police are providing a great deal of support and will be monitoring the area.

While Langley High School does not have any control over the surrounding communities, we do think it helpful to use our communication resources to send out this message and to inform our students and their families.

Students are reminded:  Walk in groups.  Be aware of your surroundings.  If possible, carry a cell phone.  If you see someone suspicious, keep walking and go to the nearest residence.  Do not approach or confront.  At your first opportunity call the police.  Then, the next morning, please see Mr. Rogers, Security Administrator, or Officer Poach, School Resource Officer to make a report.

There is no need to be alarmed.  This person has not made any attempts to approach anyone or physically hurt anyone.  He has acted inappropriately and illegally, but not violently.  If you see anything supicious please contact the non-emergency police dispatch at 703-691-2131.
