African-American History Lectures

 


The Historical Society of Fairfax County, in conjunction with the McLean Historical Society and Friends of Pleasant Grove, will present a program on local African-American history at the Pleasant Grove Church in McLean on September 30 at 5pm. Garry and Joan Jewett, instrumental in saving the historic black church, will discuss their work with Neighbors for a Better Community, a local civil rights group during the 1960's. Edwin B. Henderson II, president of the Tinner Hill Heritage Foundation and former Falls Church City History Commissioner, will discuss African-American history in greater Falls Church between the Civil War and the modern civil rights movement. 8641 Lewinsville Road, McLean, VA 22102.
