Langley High School Students Organize Relay for Life Fundraiser

The event will benefit the American Cancer Society.

A group of students from Langley High School has organized a Relay for Life fundraising event April 27 and 28 to benefit the American Cancer Society.

The event is one of only two Relay for Life events in Northern Virginia planned and organized completely by students. Nearly 300 students, teachers and parents from the Langley High community have signed up for the event, including 27 teams, mostly consisting of students.

The event begins at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, when teams will pitch tents on the Langley High football field. One member of each team will walk on the track at all times, symbolizing the fact that cancer never sleeps.

Local cancer survivors will walk the first lap around the track, and music, games, contests and activities will go on throughout the night. The event runs until 6 a.m. the next morning.
