McLean High Band Kicks Off Fruit Sales

Band members are selling Florida oranges, grapefruit and other items to raise money for their group.

Editor's Note: The following article on holiday fruit sales has been submitted by the McLean High School Band.

This week the annual McLean High School Band fruit sale kicks off, offering cases of fresh fruits and packages of pecans from Florida. Organizers announced that this year orders can be placed securely on-line at www.mcleanband.org and can be delivered anywhere in the continental U.S.

They can also be picked up at the high school on Saturday, Dec. 8, which organizers noted is in time for holiday gifting and parties.

“Our fruit sale is a pre-holiday hit in the area,” said the Band Association President Karrie McMillan. “It goes to a good cause, but importantly our prices are nearly 50 percent below holiday on-line fruit basket companies and generally below local retail prices.”

Organizers said orders must be received online or by mail by Nov. 15. This year’s offering includes large and small cases of Florida oranges or grapefruit, cases with a mixture of five fruits, and packages of pecans and chocolate covered pecans.

“A case of fruit will put a healthy, holiday smile on the faces of those you love, save you money and support a great cause,” McMillan concluded, “And this fruit is really good!”
