Meet McLean's New Football Coach Today

New Football Coach Brings Liberty District Experience to McLean

Dennis Worek is the new head varsity football coach at McLean High School and the community can meet him this evening.

Worek has experience in various Liberty District football programs. He most recently coached at Jefferson as the defensive coordinator for the past two years. Years earlier, Worek was the coach at Langley and Madison, and he led the Warhawks to win the Virginia AAA Northern Region championship game in 1996.

“As far as coaching in Northern Virginia, I’ve always competed against McLean, and it has always been a strong program. I can’t think of a better place,” Worek said.

Worek has held various positions in his more than 30 years with Fairfax County Public Schools, but now considers himself a retired administrator. He says his main focus at McLean will be on football, but he will be available to substitute teach.

“I look forward to the challenge. They have a really good program going, and I’ll be apart of that,” Worek said. “I have the experience and the knowledge to see if we can go another step forward.”

Worek will be at McLean High School on Wednesday night in the main gym at 7 p.m. for “Meet the Coach Night,” where he will introduce himself to students and parents. His hope for Wednesday night is to give the McLean High School community a better idea of who he is so they can become more familiar with him.
