'So Cool!' Cooper Middle School Students Get Lesson in Unbiased News on C-SPAN Bus

C-SPAN Bus visits Cooper Middle, Langley High in McLean on Tuesday.

Cooper Middle School student journalists on Tuesday had the opportunity enter the C-SPAN bus, where they received a journalism lesson, learned about C-SPAN resources, and interviewed state Del. Barbara Comstock.

Lindsay Bovenzi, a journalism teacher at Cooper, submitted the following quotes from McLean students about what they learned:

Isabella Clapp: "I learned much more about news and how the news teams work to give us information on current events. Overall, it was a great experience.”

Sohrob Fatoorchie: “I think that it was so cool seeing one of the most unbiased networks on TV.”

Olivia Grommers: “On the C-SPAN bus today I learned about the ways C-SPAN runs their business. The C-SPAN speaker talked to us about the ways C-SPAN is different than other broadcasts networks.”

Ashley Baradari: “The C-SPAN bus was so cool! I had no idea they did interviews on the bus!” 

Carter Johnson: “C-SPAN is amazing. Now I can watch all the clips and edit to my loving.”

Mariam Afshar: “I learned the logistics of how C-SPAN was run. Surprisingly they were not run by advertisements, but by the number of people getting cable.”

The C-SPAN bus was also scheduled to visit Langley High School on Tuesday.
