Youth1 Names McLean Little League's Wolfe Female Athlete of the Month

National youth media organization picked 13-year-old Madison Wolfe for the honor.

Youth1 Media, a national youth media organization, has named Madison Wolfe its Female Athlete of the Month for July.

Wolfe plays third base for the McLean All-Star Little League Squad, which won state and regional titles and came in second overall in the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Ore., in August.

Youth1 called 13-year-old Wolfe "a threat on the field with a solid glove and great agility … (who) has a solid bat, which proved key in World Series play…"

Wolfe, of Falls Church, is also involved in gymnastics and cheerleading.  Youth1 highlighted her as part of its Year of the Girl campaign.

“Madison is one of those athletes that is impressive and special. You can teach skill, but you can’t teach heart and sportsmanship. In the field she made a number of key defensive plays at third base, and at the plate she connected for a number of extra base hits and RBI triples,” Youth1 Softball Sports Manager Erika Yackulic said in announcing the honor.

“Not once did I see with her head down or with a look of defeat. Madison is a remarkable athlete that should go far in this sport and in life."
