UPDATE: Power Back On in All of McLean Following Monday Outages

Dominion Power estimates electricity will be restored this afternoon for storm-related outages

 

UPDATE Tuesday 9:58. All McLean residents have their power back, according to the Dominion Power outage map. Only one McLean resident, who lives in the vicinity of Chain Bridge Road and Georgetown Pike, is without power, according to the map.

UPDATE: About a dozen McLean residents remain powerless at 3 p.m. according to the Dominion Power website.

They were among about 1,250 McLean customers who were without power. Earlier in the day Dominion gave 3 p.m. as the estimated time of power restoration. Now the website says 9 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY. Just less than 170 McLean residents were without power Monday morning as a result of the thunderstorms that rumbled through the area last night and this morning, bringing much needed rain and much welcomed lower temperatures but also causing headaches for those who found themselves without power again.

The Dominion Power website said power should be restored no later than 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.

The bulk of the customers without power, about 150, were located near Spring Hill Road and Georgetown Pike, according to Dominion's map.

The forecast for Monday and Tuesday:

  • Today. Scattered showers before 2 p.m., then isolated showers after 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Northeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
  • Tonight. A chance of thunderstorms before 8pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. Southeast wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
