Photo Album: McLean American Legion Post Remembers Memorial Day

Gathering at Memorial Park.

Veterans largely from World War II and Vietnam and their families and friends  gathered at the Memorial Garden at McLean High School Monday morning for the annual Memorial Day service by the McLean Post of the American Legion.

About 90 people attended the observance then headed to lunch at the American Legion hall on Balls Hill Road.

Loren Bush, U.S. Army two tours in Korea and Vietnam.

Former Virginia Del. Vince Callahan, a member of the post who did his annual recitation of In Flanders Field.

Andrew Christopher, U.S. Army Dental Corps

Jay Edwards, U.S. Navy, Vietnam era.

Edgar Hicks, 91,  First Division, who landed in France a few days after other units of his division landed on D-Day, June 6, 1944. He served in the Signal Corps and fought from Normandy through the Battle of the Bulge to Czechoslovakia. He was accompanied by his daughter Janet Dobbs.

Cole Mallard, U.S. Air Force, taught English in Saigon during the Vietnam War.

Marvin Quinn, U.S. Navy, South Pacific, World War II.

Bob Rosenbaum, U.S. Army Counter Intelligence.

James Wheeler and Mr. Cox, U.S. Marines World War II. As teenagers they survived Iwo Jima.

Glenn Yarborough, three years in Vietnam as a captain and a major in the First Squad, 4th Cavalry, of the First Infantry.
