National Weather Service issues warning for Loudoun, Fairfax.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for portions of Loudoun County and Fairfax until 9 p.m. Thursday.

The areas included in the warning are southeastern Loudoun County, northwestern Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax.

Radar indicates very heavy rain capable of producing flash flooding, according to the NWS. Additional rainfall amounts of around 2 inches can be expected.

The weather service stresses that vehicles should not drive through floodwater, since it is usually deeper than it appears.

Flash Flood Watch

A flash flood watch is in effect until midnight for Prince William County, Fairfax, Arlington and Alexandria. The watch is until midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Slow-moving storms with rain falling at a rate of more than 2 inches per hour will move through the region Thursday evening, the weather service reported.

Some thunderstorms may have damaging wind gusts and large hail, according to the weather service.
