Spotlight: McLean Little League

The McLean Little League chapter has been a party of the community since 1956.

Mission: "The mission of McLean Little League is to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage and respect for authority, so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens."

Financials: The annual operating budget, which includes all programs, park maintenance and operations, is approximately $550,000.

History: According to the McLean Little League website, the group was founded in 1956 and was chartered by Little League, Inc.

How you can help: According to McLean Little League President Mike Mendler, "McLean Little League is always looking for baseball and softball volunteers (coaches, umpires, etc.). Please consider giving some of your time to this community-based organization. Interested individuals should attend the Spring 2012 Registration at the McLean Little League Complex on the following dates: Jan. 7, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p .m.; Jan. 12, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; and Jan. 21, 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
