Spotlight: McLean Project for the Arts

MPA will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2012.

Mission: "The mission of McLean Project for the Arts is to exhibit the work of emerging and established artists from the Mid-Atlantic region; to promote public awareness and understanding of the concepts of contemporary art; and to offer instruction and education in the visual arts."

Financials: According to Executive Director Nancy Perry, the 2011 operating budget, which includes paying for instructors for 200 classes a year, is about $600,000. Approximately 75 percent of the budget is allocated for programs directly and 25 percent for administrative.

History: According to the MPA website, "MPA is a nonprofit visual arts center founded in 1962 to exhibit the work of emerging and established regional artists."
