Creating a Blueprint for Later High School Start Times and Four Other Things This Week in McLean

Later High School Start Times: The McLean Citizens Association presents "Later High School Start Times: A Blueprint for Positive Change?" at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave. Dr. Judith Owens with the Children's National Medical Center's Sleep Medicine Department will lead the presentation. Owens and her team are  in charge of developing a report outlining how Fairfax County Public Schools can achieve its goal of changing start times for high schools. More information here.

Armed Forces 1940s Radio Show: The McLean High School Choral Arts Program presents an evening of songs from the 1940s celebrating the Golden Age of Radio at 7 p.m. Thursday at McLean High School, 1633 Davidson Road.

Shop for a Good Cause: Shop at J. Crew at the Tysons Galleria at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and get 15 percent off all purchases of $150 or more. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Inova Children's Hospital.

Go on a Culinary Journey: Make plans to be at Amoo's House of Kabob, 6271 Old Dominion Drive, at 7 p.m. Friday to go on "A Culinary Journey from Tehran to Istanbul." Great Falls Art Tour: The Great Falls Studios 10th Annual Art Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The Great Falls Community Library, 9830 Georgetown Pike, will serve as the headquarters for the self-guided tour, billed as a driving adventure to studios sprinkled along the roads of Great Falls.
