This Week: Christmas Closings, Model Train Display, J Fest and More
Five things in and around McLean for the week of Christmas 2013.
Government Closings: Most Fairfax County offices and buildings will be closed or have limited hours during the holidays. Click here to see what's open and closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Holiday Model Train Display: Watch G-gauge trains wind their way through a miniature Western town in the Colvin Run Mill Barn from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The event is free, and no reservations are required. An additional mill tour is $7 for adults and $5 for children. The barn is located at 10017 Colvin Run Road in Great Falls. More information here.
J Fest: The Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia is hosting its annual J Fest on Christmas Day. The event is at 11 a.m. at 8900 Little River Turnpike in Fairfax. It will feature games, arts and crafts, a moon bounce, and kosher food. Later, at 3 p.m., catch "Hava Nagila (The Movie)," which organizers describe as a “documentary romp through the history, mystery and meaning of the great Jewish standard.” event organizers say. Pentagon Row Ice Rink Extends Hours: On Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and through Dec. 30, the Pentagon Row Ice Rink will be open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Tickets are $8 for adults, $7 for children 12 and under, and $7 for adults 55 and older. Skate rentals are $3. More information here.
Bull Run Festival of Lights: Through Jan. 5, just off of Interstate 66 on Lee Highway in Centreville. The Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority expects to see more than 30,000 cars drive through the holiday light display before it ends. Find out more here.
